Women in real estate leadership [VIDEO]
Both men and women are real estate agents. But for the moment, we’re going to focus on women in this industry.
Women have worked in real estate almost since its inception in 1794 and its establishment as a legitimate business in the 1840s. Today, 58% of all REALTORS® are female. To get even more specific, the typical REALTOR® is a 57 year old white female who has attended some college and is a homeowner.
But look up the ladder. Fortune magazine says, “As anyone in real estate knows, women are still underrepresented in the top ranks.”
Why? What’s changing? Who is making the changes and who is making inroads?
We spoke with real estate thought leaders of both genders about this issue at the Inman Connect event in New York in January 2016. Thanks to Andrea Geller, Katie Lance, Nick Dreher, Laura Monroe, Sean Carpenter and Pam O’Connor for sharing their thoughts. We also feature Leigh Brown, Laurie Weston Davis, Nicole Beauchamp and Sheri Moritz.
And special shout outs to Stephanie Pfeffer Anton, Sherry Chris, Laura Brady, Samantha Debianchi and Alyssa Hellman for sharing their thoughts with us on this topic as well!
