What do I do if my addresses won’t upload?

If you’re having trouble uploading your street addresses to your Sphere or Recruiting Campaign you may have an issue with your file. See below for tips on proper formatting and how to adjust your file, or download this sample template and add your addresses for easy upload.

Step 1: Check your file type

We require .csv or .xls(x) files for street address uploads. Not sure what kind of file you have? You can look at the document name to see the document type.

Step 2: Confirm column labels

Addresses can be uploaded in one of two ways.

(1) One address per row in a single column

(2) Multiple columns with a header label for each column

To upload a file with one address per row, label the first row of the column “Address” as shown below.

To upload a file with multiple columns with a header, each column must be appropriately labeled with the exact labels below:

  • “Address1”
  • “Address2”
  • “City”
  • “State”
  • “Zip”

Optional Step 3: Combine data into a single column

If you’re using the multiple-column method and you’re still having problems after completing steps one and two, we recommend transforming your data into a single value per address. To do so follow these easy steps to combine the values.

Using Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets:

  • Use the Concatenate function to join the individual values into one single value
  • To use this function enter the following formula:

=CONCATENATE(A2, “ “,B2,”, “,D2,”, “,E2,” “,F2”)

Once you’ve combined your data, you will want to copy and paste the new values into its own document so that it is the only data in the document.

Tip: You will want to paste the values only, so that the value gets pasted and not the formula.

This is how you will want the new document to be formatted.
